When you connect to the web server, you will connect directly to the root directory of your account. WS_FTP will display a split screen where files on the left-hand side are in your computer.
Files on the right are on your Web Server. (see Fig)
You will see several folders on the right-hand side such as bin, cgi-local, cgibin, and on the lower right section your web page files such as index, home, and other html files.
The first step is to select bin, cgi-bin, cgibin, or the appropriate cgi file in the upper right of your screen and click "ChgDir". Any existing cgi files that are currently on your server will appear in the lower right area. (usually blank)
On the upper left side of your screen, select the drive where the Web Search Disk 2 is located.
Then select "ChgDir". The three files on the floppy will appear in the bottom left of your screen.
The lower left side of your screen will now show the following files: websearch.cgi, websearch.cgi.txt, and websearch.cgi.head.txt.
The lower right side will probably be blank unless you have existing cgi files.
Select "ASCII" box.
Select (highlight) all three files on the left and click the arrow button pointing toward the lower right side.
All needed Web Search Files are now in the Bin directory and all that's left to do is issue a chmod command for each file now in the lower right box. (we're working just on the right side now)
Single click with your left mouse button on the websearch.cgi file. Then right click on the websearch.cgi file. (A pull down box will appear)
Select "chmod UNIX".
A "Remote Files Permissions" Box will appear.
websearch.cgi needs to be given the 755 permission and the
websearch.cgi.txt and websearch.cgi.head.txt needs the 644 permission.
Select the noted check boxes for each file and click "OK". Then go to the next file and do the same. The following are the checkbox codes for each permission:
websearch.cgi chmod 755 (*) means it's checked *Read *Read *Read *Write Write Write *Execute *Execute *Execute
websearch.cgi.txt and websearch.cgi.head.txt chmod 644 (*) means it's checked *Read *Read *Read *Write Write Write Execute Execute Execute
