Pull Down Menus!

One of the easiest but most misunderstood options of Web Search is the "Pull Down Menu".
In the following pages we'll try and clear away the fog surrounding these functions and provide webmasters with a larger selection of options.
At it's most basic, Web Search will work even with as simple a form as that shown below.
Everything you do to your form from now on will be simply adding input tags to further define the search input.

It should be noted that there are two types of pull down menus. The first section of these help files will deal with the type of pull down menu which "ADDS" hidden words to a search to further define the results.
The second type of pull down menu is where the user selects "Which" column to search for a particular term.
Both types can co-exist in the same search form and we'll show examples of this later in the help files.

1st, we'd like to apologize for the lack of "Live" demos of these features. Our server now has over 20 search engines operating on it and it's become TOO easy to set up a demo which interferes with an actual search engine in operation.
Where a demo IS available, we'll note that in the description.

We recommend printing each of the following pages as you view them to aid in following along with the instructions.
We also suggest reading all the files in this section before changing your existing spreadsheet or search form.
There are many ways to simply ADD pull down menus to an existing search engine without reformatting everything you've done so far.

Thanks, Bob

PS We intend to have all the options and files completed by 1/16 so if you reach a dead end, come back again as this page will continue to evolve with more and more information on Pull Down Menus.
